Case Study:
Alex, a service user you have been seeing for about 6 sessions, comes to you in distress due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. You have been working with Alex on issues related to anxiety and have been successful in working with them to identify their struggles with anxiety as it relates to unpredicted situations. Through your work together Alex has been able to ground themselves and build their capacity to identify their issues with unpredictable situations and uncertainty. You are not surprised about Alex coming to see you today with intensified stress during the mounting crisis of the last few weeks concerns.
Alexs concerns:
– Panic attacks
– Social distancing feels great to rest and not to feel pressure to engage with people, but it is also stressful since there is a lot of time to think of this global pandemic.
– Having to go to work because their boss understands their services as essential, even though they work at a store that does not sell essential items
– Not being able to sleep out of fear of losing their job if they dont go anymore or getting sick if they continue to go to work
– Living with roommates who are still not aware of how important social distancing is
