Write a short essay titled Canadian Labour History: What I Know, What I Expect
Since this essay is very short, you need to think carefully so you get in everything you want to say. The essay should comprise two parts.
Part 1: Write about things you already know about Canadian labour. In this part of the essay, you can draw on your own experiences, or stories that family, friends, or co-workers have shared with you. You can also draw on anything you learned through independent readings, book clubs, or labour studies courses you may have taken in the past. This is the What I Know part of the essay.
Part 2: This is the What I Expect part of the essay. The part should detail your reasons for taking this course and blend them with the thoughts you had while going through Unit 1 of the Study Guide.
If any of the stories in Drawn to Change: Graphic Histories of Working-Class Struggle caught your interest and/or if you can relate to any of the stories personally, you may like to organize your essay around these connections with the Unit 1 readings. Note that this is an option, not a must.
