It increased mainly due to the innovation of social media, which has allowed the creation and sharing of content possible among people. The impact of these platforms cannot go unnoticed (Weinstein, 2017). I intend to write a cause and effect article on how social media has impacted American culture.Social media has allowed people to maintain communication without needing to be physically near each other, and this has decreased face to face conversation (Akram & Kumar, 2017). As a result, more people are isolating themselves and losing the desire to interact with others. Many people are linking with new people and creating friendships on these platforms. Some of these friends have never met in real life. It has resulted in “catfishing,” where people have been lured to meet people who are not what they claim to be in real life.Social media has allowed people to share what is happening in their lives with others by sharing their profiles, pictures, and daily routes with their friends on these platforms (Jong & Dückers, 2016). Some people are posting inappropriate content that has caused them to lose some opportunities in their lives.Social media is more than just a place to link with friends and family as it also offers a platform for entertainment. People turn to social media to pass their time in some cases. However, this can, at times, go too far, where one becomes addicted (Pace, Balboni & Gistri, 2017). It can become a problem when it is time to engage in schoolwork or work.In summary, the utilization of the platform has both negative and optimistic impacts, especially when its use goes too far. It is, therefore, essential to regulate one’s engagement with these platforms to avoid adverse effects.ReferenceAkram, W., & Kumar, R. (2017).
