Is Purdue Pharmaceutical accountable to wider stakeholders with respect to its alleged misleading marketing of opioids?

– evaluate existing arguments, theories, or research based on a wide and deep engagement with high calibre academic literature.
-evaluate the strengths and limitations of varying arguments supported by evidence drawn from academic research.

If you wish to argue that Purdue is only accountable to its owners (and not worry about shareholders), perhaps a more fruitful approach might be to settle on your definition of ‘accountable’ (ensuring that you are taking it from the academic literature) and work backwards? That is, you read about on theories of accountability, find and use a definition of accountability and think about what it means to be ‘accountable’ and then apply it to the Purdue case. Once you do this, think about whether any actors – other than the family – could meet the definition. This will help to demonstrate analysis and critical evaluation.
