In your review, creatively introduce the documentary in a half page. In other words, what is the filmmaker seeking to demonstrate? Then raise the questions the producer is seeking to answer and tell me the four themes from the film you are going to investigate.

Watch the full documentary The Weather Underground that I will show in class after Exam 2 and determine the filmmakers purpose. Identify four questions and themes that the producer attempts to answer.

Research the claims made in the documentary. Consult at least five academic sources. Wikipedia and encyclopedias dont count.

In your review, creatively introduce the documentary in a half page. In other words, what is the filmmaker seeking to demonstrate? Then raise the questions the producer is seeking to answer and tell me the four themes from the film you are going to investigate.

In the body of the paper, describe and analyze the four areas you investigated (one page pure theme). As you summarize tell me if you find the evidence compelling or not. From your research, are the facts reliable and the conclusions sound? If you find missing information, would it strengthen or weaken the case put forth in the documentary? You cannot cover everything, so choose wisely the information you think is worth your attention or criticism. Unlike the introduction, do not just give me a statement of opinion, but rather explain your reasoning process.

For your conclusion (a half page to a page and a half), summarize and state the significance of your major points. What is the key to understanding the documentary? What historical impacts can be identified? What lessons can be drawn from your review?

Make sure to properly document your sources. To reiterate, you need to consult and cite within your film review at least five academic sources, not encyclopedic articles. In other words, Wikipedia doesnt count. All short articles or copies of the pages from books or longer articles that you cited within your essay must be turned in with your paper. Failure to follow this instruction will result in a failing grade.
