Philosophy of Nursing
Development of personal nursing philosophy is a way for the nursing student to begin to contemplate and articulate their beliefs and values and the role that those values will play in their nursing career. The student can use and may modify this nursing philosophy as they move forward to guide their nursing education and assure that their nursing career aligns with their values. The paper will be: A professional nursing philosophy developed by the student throughout the semester which includes, but is not limited to, a definition of caring and how it relates to nursing, characteristics of a professional nurse and nurse leader, community awareness and involvement, and methods of lifelong learning A consideration of what makes up the students own value system and how that will be applied to nursing The result of contemplation and introspection as well as research and inquiry into the field of nursing. Guided by the following: Start with when you were cared for? Or when you have cared for another? What was that experience like? What are your personal beliefs and values that drew you toward nursing? What have you learned so far that may have changed you in any way? How will you put your beliefs and values into practice? How can you maintain your beliefs and values when practicing as a nurse? How do you want your patients to see you as a nurse? Requirements: Use valid references 3-4 page paper APA format, title page and reference page will not be included in page count
