Description of the paper As a Social Service Worker the student must first develop a thorough understanding of the Housing crisis for low income families in Toronto Canada. For this project, student is responsible for engaging in exploratory research and writing a comprehensive report that will assist the team to understand the crisis for affordable housing for low income families in Toronto, specific areas of focus, and arrive at clear objectives. Included in your report is an explanation how you conducted your research, what you have discovered and how you believe this information will help the project. Please ensure that this report is evidence-informed and does NOT include your opinion or feelings on the subject. Answer the following questions based on the research you conducted on your subject area. 1. What are the demographics of the target community? 2. What is the general attitude/awareness of the community/issue? 3. What are the political, social and economic forces at play in the community? 4. What access to funds currently exists? Where does that money come from? What opportunities for future funding may exist? Notes: Currently In Toronto the minimum wage is about $14 Per hour and the average work hour per week is 40. A low income family of 4 which includes husband wife and two kids cannot afford to rent a two bedroom apartment in Toronto. A two bedroom apartment in Toronto will cost about $2500 average a person who works minimum way of $14 per hour cannot afford to pay 2500 per month only for rent. the inflation has gone high as well. Even if husband and wife works still they have to pay for child support they won’t be able to make a decent living with with that much high income. There is a growing crisis with housing affordability for low income families. to apply for subsidize housing there is a waiting period of 10 years. The government has offered some solution which not realistic ad it may not even help those who are low income earners.
