1. You are a school social worker at a public high school. A sixteen year-old student has been referred to you by the public health nurse. The student is seven weeks pregnant and very upset. She refuses to tell you who the father is and does not want her parents to know she is pregnant. She is requesting information about her options. What is your response? What factors might you want to consider in formulating it?
2. You are a social worker and in a faith-based agency supported by multiple local churches, and providing a wide variety of counseling services to children and families. Your social work colleague, Estelle Allyn, has shared in supervision/consultation that her client, LaTreesha Jones, has asked her to pray with her. Estelle has worked with LaTreesha for a few months and knows that she believes fervently in the power of prayer, as does Estelle as well, and she confides that they have begun praying together at the beginning and end of each session. Estelle is seeking your approval and guidance for incorporating prayer into her interventions with LaTreesha. What is your response? What factors might you want to consider in formulating it?

#2 question: John is an adolescent who has been placed in foster care due to his parents inability to care for him. His father is currently incarcerated and his mother passed away four years ago. John has a history of being heavily involved in dealing marijuana. In the eight months he has been in foster care, John has made great progress. His school attendance and grades have improved greatly. He has also developed a good relationship with the foster care social worker who manages his case. He confides in the social worker his plans on selling marijuana again when he leaves their care. He does not consider pot a serious drug and says If I dont do it, someone else will. I might as well be the one getting the money! How would you approach this situation as the social worker? What issues would need to be considered?
