Answer one of the following questions. 1. Multinational and transnational corporations are major driving forces behind globalization. Choose a multinational or transnational corporation as a case study. Is there a core region from which it operates? How many countries does it influence? How many people does it employ? In what ways does it perpetuate globalization? 2. An indirect, though telling, indication of a world city is the volume of air traffic. Find a world map that shows the typical flight paths that occur. Which cities are major hubs? Are any of these nodes surprising to you? Why do certain cities become the nodes of global air traffic? Submit the map and your response. 3. Choose a city outside of the United States that you believe to be a world city, and write your paper defending your choice by referencing the list of roles of a world city. Which roles does it fill or fail to fill? Are any roles more prominent than others? Remember to include references to at least two sources. Assignments must be in prose form (do not turn in an outline). Complete assignments should be at least 300 words (excluding references). You must use and cite at least two sources (e.g. the text, peer reviewed articles, reputable web pages).
